Skoda To Re-Launch Third-Generation Superb In 2024

The sedan segment in India is one of the least growing segments in the country and it is not just ours as globally also people are moving to SUV or high-riding models. But some sedan segments are registering positive growth thanks to the introduction of newer models which will create a buzz around the segment. In the premium sedan segment, the only model currently available for buyers is the Toyota Camry and the lack of competition meant that the overall segment is going down. Now Skoda is planning to re-introduce the third-generation Superb in India.

The Superb was already on sale in India but the company discontinued the model post BS6.2 implementations. The second innings of the third-generation model won’t be the same as this time the company is going to import the model to India instead of assembling it like earlier, which will increase the cost of the model as it is already an expensive sedan. Skoda is leveraging the government’s GSR 870 rule, allowing the import of up to 2,500 units of right-hand-drive vehicles in the M and L categories without requiring homologation.

The new Superb will come with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for the first time. These include lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control, capable of handling speeds up to 210kph. Additionally, the Superb will feature park assist with a 360-degree camera, ensuring a seamless parking experience. The engine lineup will be limited to just one as the 2.0 L TSI engine produces 190 hp of power and comes mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Skoda will be offering the Superb in top-spec L&K trim only.
