By Skoda officially launched the much-awaited Kushaq in India at the starting price of Rs. 10.49 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The Kushaq is the first model to be based on the MQB AO IN platform for India and the SUV comes with 95 per cent localization to keep costs down. The Czech manufacturer has put on lots of effort to iron out all the problems it previously had like the cost of ownership and lack of service centres. Skoda is offering the Kushaq in three variants – Active, Ambition and Style.
The Kushaq is the production version of the Vision IN Concept showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and the production model was revealed earlier this year. The SUV measures 4,225 mm for length, a 1,760 mm width and a height of 1,612 mm, wheelbase of 2651 mm. When compared to competitors Kushaq is one of the smallest in its segment but the wheelbase is class-leading. The boot space is 385 litres and 185 mm ground clearance. Skoda offers 5 colours on Kushaq – Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Honey Orange, Carbon Steel and Tornado Red.
The Kushaq follows the global design theme of Skoda and the front gets the signature grille of Skoda. Along with new LED headlamps and a sporty design for the bumper. Skoda offers 17-inch wheels as standard. The rear gets LED tail lamps and a similar design to other modern Skoda models. The interior design is modern but again we can see that it is exactly similar to other global models like the new generation Fabia. The steering wheel is a two-spoke unit and the quality appears to be good. But the Kushaq get conventional dials instead of digital like most of its competitors.
Skoda has packed the Kushaq with lots of features like a 10-inch infotainment system with wireless android auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats, wireless charging, ambient lights, a 7-speaker premium audio system, keyless entry, auto-dimming IRVM and more. In terms of safety also Kushaq gets dual airbags, airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, rear parking sensors and camera, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts and TPMS. The Kushaq comes with two engines. 1.0 L TSI with 110 PS and 175 NM from the Rapid with 6-speed manual or auto. 1.5 L TSI with 150 PS and 250 Nm from Kodiaq with 7-speed DSG only.
