However, Nissan’s unveiling of an all-electric minivan in the form of the Hyper Tourer suggests that this segment is far from obsolete. EV technology offers unique packaging advantages, granting automakers greater design freedom.
Thanks to Nissan’s EV Technology Vision, the Hyper Tourer boasts a spacious cabin with a flat floor, made possible by the consolidation of components and solid-state batteries, resulting in an “ultra-low” center of gravity. This layout also opens up exciting possibilities for the creation of modern camper vans, capitalizing on the ample interior space. The interior of the Hyper Tourer Concept is a testament to Nissan’s commitment to innovative design. The front seats can swivel 360 degrees, fostering easy conversations between passengers in different rows. Rear-seat occupants have the luxury of controlling navigation and audio through a wearable display. The cabin is adorned with traditional Japanese-patterned lighting, while the floor features a flat LED panel that can display scenic imagery, creating a serene ambiance.
Nissan has integrated advanced AI technology into the Hyper Tourer to monitor passengers’ biometric signs, automatically adjusting mood lighting and music. This system tracks brain waves, breathing, perspiration, and heart rate, ensuring a truly immersive and tailored driving experience. While specific details about the powertrain remain somewhat elusive, Nissan has confirmed that the Hyper Tourer will be equipped with its e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system and solid-state batteries. Notably, Nissan is not the only automaker delving into this cutting-edge battery technology, as Toyota is also in the process of developing its own solid-state batteries.
The exterior of the Hyper Tourer showcases a striking design with sharp creases along the sides, converging toward the rear.
