Range Rover Electric First Official Images Revealed

Range Rover is going electric as the company has already announced the development of this new model. The British manufacturer has officially released the first images of the Range Rover Electric as the prototype is tested across the Arctic Circle for cold weather testing. The company is also testing the Range Rover in Dubai as the engineers want to see how the SUV performs in such humid conditions. The road testing of the Range Rover electric will commence soon as part of the development across different parts of the world.

Initial tests have honed in on the battery and Electric Drive Unit (EDU), which encompass the vehicle’s essential elements such as the transmission, electric motor, and power electronics, enduring extreme sub-zero temperatures plummeting to –40°C. These critical components, the battery, and the EDU are both crafted in-house by JLR, marking a milestone for the brand. Conducted on the frosty expanses of Swedish lakes, the testing has showcased Range Rover’s novel all-electric propulsion system developed in-house, promising to elevate the vehicle’s performance even further on challenging surfaces with low traction.

This innovation solidifies Range Rover’s reputation for unparalleled capability across all terrains, weather conditions, and surfaces. Breaking new ground for Range Rover, an innovative traction control system delivers remarkable performance on icy or low-traction surfaces. Departing from conventional setups reliant solely on the ABS unit, Range Rover Electric delegates wheel slip management directly to each electric drive control unit. This move slashes the torque reaction time at each wheel from approximately 100 ms to a mere 1 ms, ensuring exceptional grip and stability. From the first look, the Range Rover Electric looks exactly similar to the ICE version as most of the manufacturers are using this design route as customers don’t want both models to look different.
