By The range-topper in the 718 series the 718 Cayman GT4 RS made its debut in India at the Porsche ‘Festival of Dreams’. The manufacturer is celebrating its 75 years of making great sports cars all over the world. Hence they are organizing the event named ‘Festival of Dreams’ which is likely to be inspired by the world-famous Porsche tagline ‘it all starts with a dream’. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS launched in India back in May 2022 at Rs 2.54 crore (ex-showroom). Unlike the regular 718, the 718 GT4 RS comes with the Cayman body style. Even though the GT4 and GT4 RS is powered by the same engine the GT4 RS is further upgraded to give more power and to move faster. Porsche built the Cayman 718 GT4 RS on an adjustable and racetrack-ready chassis with an RS-specific damper set-up, modified spring, and anti-roll bar rates
The 718 Lineup in the country gets both Cayman coupe and Boxster styling. The standard 718s is powered by a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 300 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Whereas the GT4 and GT4 RS are powered by a 4.0-litre flat-six naturally aspirated engine that produces 414 bhp and 420 Nm of torque in GT4. Whereas in the GT4 RS, the performance of the vehicle is upgraded to 500 bhp and 450 Nm of torque. In the GT4 the engine is matted to either a 7-speed DCT gearbox or 6-speed manual whereas in the GT4 RS, the engine is matted to only a 7-speed DCT which enables the car to sprint from 0 to 100 in 3.4 s. And has a top speed of 315 Kmph.
To make the car go faster Porsche has managed to reduce the vehicle’s weight by using carbon fibre-reinforced plastic for the bonnet and front wings. and a lighter rear windscreen. The GT4 RS comes with a swan-necked rear wing, new air vents, an adjustable front diffuser, and a 30mm lower ride height compared to the standard 718 Cayman which makes the car sportier and sleek look with a soft and wide stance. The rear quarter glass has been swapped for enhanced engine airflow, resulting in a better soundtrack. The car comes with a lot of advanced technologies that help the driver in all kinds of situations to be a better guy on wheels.
