By Nissan India is set to enhance its popular Magnite SUV range with the introduction of an automated manual transmission (AMT) option for the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine. While the pricing details for the 1.0-litre AMT variant are yet to be disclosed, it promises to be a more budget-friendly choice for customers seeking an automatic gearbox-equipped Magnite. The announcement of prices is expected to be made in the coming weeks. Since its launch in December 2020, the Nissan Magnite has played a pivotal role for the brand in India, achieving substantial sales figures both domestically and in export markets.
However, until now, Nissan had not offered an AMT option for the SUV, with the sole automatic choice being the CVT paired with the more potent 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. In contrast, its sibling SUV, the Renault Kiger, produced on the same assembly line, has featured the AMT with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine since its debut in February 2021. The 1.0-litre petrol variant of the Magnite currently comes exclusively with a manual gearbox. The introduction of the AMT will make automatic gearbox-equipped Magnite models more accessible to a wider range of customers. This addition will bring the total powertrain options for the Magnite in India to four.
Furthermore, Nissan has plans to launch the Magnite Black Edition in the near future. As the name suggests, this special edition will showcase blacked-out accents, along with an all-black exterior and interior color scheme. The Magnite already boasts an impressive list of features, including an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a 360-degree camera, among others. Insider information suggests that the Magnite Black Edition will be based on the top trim level and will likely be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options, providing buyers with even more choices to personalize their Magnite experience.
