Next-Generation Mercedes Benz GLA Bookings Commenced In India

Mercedes Benz showcased the second generation GLA in India for the first time at the 2020 Auto Expo soon after the global debut. The earlier model was discontinued post the BS6 era and it was one of the best selling models of the company, which resulted in low sales. Finally, the German manufacturer has opened the bookings for next-generation GLA in India and it has been listed on the official website of Mercedes Benz India.

Interested customers can book the GLA directly from the website or visit the dealership by paying Rs. 1 lakh as a token advance, which can be reimbursed if the customers choose to cancel the booking. Mercedes Benz was planning to launch the GLA earlier this month but the company had to delay the launch because of the rising COVID case across the country and some of the states are in lockdown, which is not ideal for the launch of an important model.

We are expecting Mercedes Benz to introduce the new GLA by the middle of next month, most of the other manufacturers have also delayed the launch and media drives because of COVID-19 as it is not safe to go out. The German manufacturer is planning to launch 15 new products in India this year as they want to retain the number one position in luxury sales and they have already introduced the much-awaited E Class facelift and A-Class Limo.

The second-generation GLA is based on the MFA2 platform as it is the updated version of the earlier platform. The new GLA looks more like an SUV rather than a crossover like the earlier model. The exterior design is inspired by bigger Mercedes SUV models and the interior is completely modern with the latest infotainment system. The GLA is expected to be powered by both diesel and petrol engine with a four-wheel-drive system.
