Next-Generation Maruti Swift To Get Boosterjet Engine

Suzuki commenced works on the next-generation Swift last year and the test mule has been spotted testing in Japan and Europe. The fourth-generation model is expected to be based on the updated Heartect platform of the current model and the test mules indicate that the current design theme will be retained but the designers will make lots of changes to differentiate the new model as Swift is one of the most popular models of the company across the world.

According to new reports, the India-spec Swift will finally come with a Boosterjet engine and it could come as a Sport model. There were several rumours that the company is planning to launch Swift Sport in India but nothing has been confirmed yet. Maruti’s upcoming launch Fronx will re-introduce the turbo petrol engine in India as it was last seen on the Baleno RS and the model was very well received by enthusiasts across the country.

The 1.0 L turbo-petrol engine produces 100 PS of power and 147 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor gearbox. Even though its a turbo-petrol engine it doesn’t have the same level of performance as its competitors. But in Swift we can expect Maruti to tune the engine to be more peppy than currently on the Fronx. The global launch of new Swift is expected to take place by the end of this year and India launch in 2024.
