Next-Generation KTM RC 390 Spotted In India For The First Time

KTM is working on the next generation of RC 390 for some time now and the prototypes have been spotted several times in Europe. Finally, the new RC 390 landed on Indian shores as the first spy shot of the performance motorcycle has surfaced. The test mule doesn’t have any badging but some parts have been camouflaged and it was spotted in Chakan, Pune near the Bajaj plant where the entry-level KTM performance bikes have been manufactured.

We can confirm that the test mule is RC 390 as the test bike gets side-mounted exhaust instead of the under-belly ones on its younger siblings. The front design of the RC 390 is completely new as the front gets a revised headlamp unit. Instead of the dual-projector set-up, KTM might introduce a full LED headlamp like those on the new Duke 390. We can also expect LED DRLs on either side of the headlamp for an aggressive look.

The front fairing design is also new as the Austrian manufacturer made some changes to make it more aerodynamic as possible, which will result in better top-speed if the power goes up or stays the same. The fuel tank also appears to have gone under the radar for some changes while the seats appear to be softer and made of a different compound compared to the current model but the signature exposed frame with orange colour has been retained.

The rear might also come with a new LED set up and the exhaust design is also different. We can expect the instrument cluster to be revised completely as the new unit will come with more features and a better design. KTM might introduce smartphone connectivity too. KTM RC 390 is expected to come with the same 393 cc engine with 44 hp of power and 35 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. We are expecting KTM to introduce the new RC 390 later this year.
