By MG officially revealed the Hector Plus at the 2020 Auto Expo and the new model is expected to be launched later this month in India. Autocar India recently spotted a Hector Plus alongside Innova Crysta, which confirms that MG is going to pitch the upcoming model against the MPV segment bestseller. The Hector is already a big model as the company doesn’t need to make huge changes for the dimensions to accommodate the third row but boot volume has come down.
MG has made minor tweaks for the Hector Plus as the front and rear bumpers are new along with updated LED DRLs and a new grille, which is finished in black compared to chrome finish on the regular model. The updated bumper resulted in increasing overall length of Hector Plus by 40 mm. Toyota is offering the Innova Crysta is 7 and 8 seater options but MG Hector Plus will be available only in 6 and 7-seater option. The Chinese Owned British manufacturer is targeting premium customers with the Hector Plus.
The model spotted is the top-end variant as it comes with all the bells and whistles like a panoramic sunroof, leather seats, LED lights, captain seats and more. When compared to Hector, MG will offer Hector Plus with an updated infotainment system as the one on Hector has lots of lag and response is not great too. The Hector Plus will retain the connected car features, which made the Hector so popular among customers and we can expect MG to add few more features too.
MG hasn’t confirmed the engine lineup for Hector Plus but we can expect the model to come with same petrol and diesel engines from the Hector. The 1.5 L petrol engine produces 143 hp at 5,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 1,600 – 3,000 rpm. The hybrid model is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox while the regular model gets the option of a DCT too. The 2.0 L diesel engine comes from FCA and it puts out 170 PS and 350 Nm, mated to 6-speed manual.
