By MG Motor India has taken a bold step to boost the sales of its Hector and Hector Plus SUVs by slashing their prices by a substantial margin. The reduction in prices, which affects both petrol and diesel variants, makes these SUVs more enticing options for prospective buyers. The price cuts are particularly pronounced in the diesel versions of the vehicles, where potential customers can now enjoy savings of up to Rs. 1.29 lakh for the Hector and up to Rs. 1.37 lakh for the Hector Plus.
This strategic move seems to respond to sluggish sales, as the combined monthly sales of these models have been hovering around the 2,000-unit mark. In contrast, competitors like the Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N are consistently selling well over 6,000 units per month on average. With these revised prices, the MG Hector now falls within the range of Rs. 14.73 lakh to Rs. 21.73 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol variants have received a price cut of up to Rs. 66,000 for the top-end model, while the base variant sees a reduction of Rs. 27,000. However, the most significant price drops are witnessed in the diesel variants, with savings ranging from Rs. 86,000 to Rs. 1.29 lakh.
On the other hand, the 7-seater MG Hector Plus has seen an even more substantial price reduction. Petrol variants now come with a discount of up to Rs. 81,000, while diesel variants receive a significant price drop of at least Rs. 1 lakh. This reduction ranges from Rs. 1.04 lakh to Rs. 1.37 lakh, bringing the Hector Plus’s price range to Rs. 17.50 lakh to Rs. 22.43 lakh (ex-showroom). Both the MG Hector and Hector Plus offer a choice of powertrains, including a 143hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox, and a 170hp 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. These price adjustments make these SUVs more competitive in their segment and could potentially attract more buyers seeking a spacious and feature-packed vehicle.
