By Mercedes Benz continues to maintain its position as the number one luxury car manufacturer in the Indian market for April 2023 as the German manufacturer sold 1149 units which are less compared to last year’s sales of 1061 units. BMW keeps the second position with sales of 866 units and it too registered negative year-on-year growth as the company sold 1004 units in the same month last year. The reason for negative growth could be supply chain issues for both manufacturers.
Mercedes Benz and BMW have strong growth in the high-end market but the allocation for India is less than what the market wants and it hampers these German twins especially in the SUV market as most models have a waiting period of almost a year. Surprisingly, Jaguar Land Rover took the third position with sales of 150 units closely followed by Volvo with 145 units. Audi managed to sell just 134 units in April 2023 while Porsche sold 55 units.
