Mercedes AMG E 53 4 Matic + Cabriolet launch in India on January 6

Mercedes Benz is kick-starting 2023 with the launch of the new AMG E53 4 Matic+ Cabriolet as they want to continue the number one position in the Indian luxury car market. The E 53 4 Matic + Cabriolet is the brand’s 4-seater convertible model and is the fourth 53-badged product in India. Mercedes launched the previous version of the E-class convertible in India in early 2010 and its facelift arrived in 2015. The AMG E 53 4 Matic + Cabriolet will be bought to India via the CBU route as the manufacturer is not expecting high volumes.

The AMG E53 4 Matic + Cabriolet will be powered by the 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is seen in the E 53 sedan and GLE 53 coupe-SUV, which produces 435hp with an integrated starter generator, which makes an additional 21hp and 249Nm of torque, which is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. It also gets dynamic select driving modes and AMG’s Ride Control+ air suspension, and the AMG E class cabriolet will be equipped with the brand’s 4 Matic + all-wheel drive system.

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet would be the newest model based on the E-Class platform to join the line-up. The automaker already sells the E-Class sedan, E 63, E 53 and the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe in the country. The new convertible gets familiar styling with the Panamericana grille, LED headlamps with distinctive LED DRLs, wraparound LED taillights, and elongated doors. There’s plenty of AMG treatment with the wheels, quad exhausts, aggressive bumpers and more.

The cabin layout also remains familiar with the dual screens for the digital console and infotainment system that runs the latest MBUX user interface. There are also the AMG sports seats, while the AMG steering wheel brings its dedicated dials that allow you to change settings quickly. Customers will also get the option of the AMG Dynamic Plus package that will bring sportier performance to the E 53 AMG convertible. Currently, convertibles are a rare body type in India, with only the Mahindra Thar and Mini Cooper Convertible on offer, apart from multi-crore supercars. But that’ll change on January 6, as Mercedes is bringing back the E-Class convertible in India with the AMG E 53 4Matic+ Cabriolet. It will not have direct rivals in the country
