Maruti Suzuki Introduced Pedestrian Safety Tech With Grand Vitara Hybrid

Maruti Suzuki Introduced Pedestrian Safety Tech with the Grand Vitara Hybrid variant as the SUV gets Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), the addition of this new feature helped the Grand Vitara to meet the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 173. All the vehicles with atleast one electric generation or motor need to have a pedestrian safety warning system as these vehicles can drive on electric energy only without any sound and it could result in accidents as pedestrians are not aware of the vehicle.

Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) emits a small sound to alert pedestrians of the approaching vehicle if they are within 5 metres. We can expect this feature to be standard among most of the electric or hybrid vehicles. The introduction of this new feature has increased the price of Grand Vitara by Rs. 4000. Now the Hybrid version of Grand Vitara starts at Rs. 18.29 lakh (Ex-Showroom).

The Grand Vitara is powered by 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission and mild-hybrid system that produces 103 ps power and 137 Nm of torque. The vehicle is also powered by Toyota-sourced 1.5-litre petrol engine that, combined with the hybrid system, makes 116PS power and 141 Nm of torque. The waiting period of Grand Vitara is already high and the most popular variants among customers.
