By Mahindra officially launched the Thar Earth Edition in India at the starting price of Rs. 15.4 Lakh (Ex-Showroom). The Thar Earth Edition is based on the LX variant and most of the changes for the SUV are aesthetics rather than mechanical elements. Mahindra offers the Thar Earth Edition in a new matte finish which is called Desert Fury as it gives a unique look for the SUV. Apart from this, the company has given Earth Edition badges on the B-pillar and rear fenders of the Thar, which will make it distinguish from regular models.
Like the exterior, Mahindra has also made some changes to the Thar Earth Edition interior as it gets a dual-tone colour of beige and grey as it looks similar to the desert. The headrest of the Thar Earth Edition gets a dune-like inspired design theme, which gives a unique look to the Thar. To make the interior even more special, the company has added dark chrome elements for the cup holders, gear knob, gear console and logo on the steering wheel. The company will also give a unique identification number for each model.
But Mahindra hasn’t specified whether the Earth Edition will be limited to a certain number and it will be available only with a hard top model. Mahindra Thar Earth Edition is only available with 4×4 variants and it comes with the same 2.0 L petrol engine and 2.2 L diesel engine. These engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The deliveries of the Thar Earth Edition might begin soon as the current waiting period for the 4 WD model is around 4-5 months while the RWD model is around a year.
