Kia recently introduced the updated Sonet in India and now the company is planning to expand the variant lineup with the introduction of two new entry-level models to further boost the sales. The new entry-level variants will be named HTE (O) and HTK (O). Currently, the Sonet is available in seven variants – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line. The introduction of these new variants is certainly going to attract younger customers.
One of the major new features of both these variants is the introduction of the electrically adjustable sunroof, which is certainly going to attract customers as it is extremely popular among customers. The HTK (O) takes it further as the company has given automatic climate control, rear defogger and connected LED tail lamps which will give a premium experience for the customers. These new variants will be introduced in both diesel and petrol engine options. Recently, Tata Motors revised the variant lineup of Nexon too.
One of the major new features on the updated Sonet is the introduction of Level-II ADAS features even though it is not the first model in its segment to come with it. Some of the ADAS features are forward collision warning, high beam assist, lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance assistance and warning, lane departure warning and more. Kia hasn’t skipped on safety as the Sonet facelift comes with six airbags, TPMS, ESC and more. The Sonet continues to be powered by a 1.2 L petrol engine with 83 PS, a 1.0 L turbocharged petrol engine with 120 hp and a 1.5 L diesel engine with 116 PS. The 1.2 L petrol engine gets a 5-speed manual gearbox only while the turbo petrol unit gets a 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT and the diesel now gets a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter.
