Kia officially announced that the sales of the Sonet compact SUV have crossed four lakh units, which is impressive considering that it the competition is intense in this segment. According to recent data released by Kia, the Sonet has enjoyed really good sales both in the domestic market and overseas. With 3,17,754 units sold domestically and 85,814 units dispatched to international markets, the Sonet has solidified its position as a global favourite. One of the factors contributing to the Sonet’s popularity is its recent facelift, which has refreshed its design and features, keeping it at the forefront of innovation and style.
Notably, the introduction of sunroof-equipped variants has resonated strongly with customers, with 63 per cent opting for this feature, highlighting the growing demand for premium amenities in the segment. Diversity in engine preferences is another notable trend among Sonet buyers. While 37 per cent opted for diesel-powered variants, the majority, comprising 63 per cent, favoured either the turbo-petrol or naturally aspirated petrol engines, reflecting a balanced offering catering to different driving needs and preferences.
Transmission options also reflect the Sonet’s commitment to versatility, with 28 per cent of customers choosing automatic transmissions and 23 per cent opting for the innovative Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT), which offers the convenience of automatic gear shifts with the control of manual driving. In line with evolving customer preferences, Kia has recently expanded the Sonet lineup with four new mid-level variants featuring sunroof options. The introduction of HTE(O) and HTK(O) variants, available with both petrol and diesel engines, further enhances Sonet’s appeal, offering customers more choices at attractive price points starting from Rs. 8.19 lakh.
