Hyundai To Launch Exter By The Middle of July

Hyundai is planning to launch the Exter micro-SUV in the Indian market by the middle of July as mass production is expected to start on the first week of the same month and the deliveries are likely to begin in August as the festival season in India commence around the same time. The Korean manufacturer has already revealed the front design of the Exter and the official bookings started earlier this month. The Exter is going to compete head-on against the Tata Punch.

The Exterior is going to be positioned below the Venue in Hyundai’s lineup and it is based on the same platform as Grand i10 Nios. Hyundai has revealed the variant lineup – EX, S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect trims. The SX (O) Connect Trims indicate that it might get the connected car tech and the features will be similar to the Venue. The Korean manufacturer is focusing a lot on safety features as the micro-SUV comes with a segment-first dash-cam with dual cameras one in the front and the other in the rear, which will be helpful in an accident.

Some of the other stand-out safety features are 6-airbags, ESC, VSM, HAC, Burglar Alarm, 3-pointed seat belts, ISOFIX and more. The entry-level E and S variants come with more than 26 safety features while the top-end variant gets more than 40 Plus features. The Exter will be powered by an E20 complaint 1.2 L Kappa engine which already does duty on several models with either a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. The company will also offer CNG model from the launch onwards.
