Honda India Sold 4864 Units In July

Honda India sold 4864 units in July which is decent considering that the company is gearing up to introduce the new Elevate in India. The export numbers for HCIL stood at 1,112 units in July’23. The Elevate is going to be a crucial model for Honda in India as the future is depending on the success of this product as they don’t have any model coming in near future. The company has officially started production of the new Elevate in India at its Tapukara plant.

The Japanese manufacturer confirmed that the Elevate gets more than 90 per cent localised parts as the company is looking at aggressive pricing to take on the competition. The dealership dispatch is expected to begin later this month while the price announcement will take place in September.  The 1.5 L engine produces 121 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox. The manual variant of the Elevate returns 15.31 kmpl and 16.92 kmpl for the automatic variant.

The fuel tank capacity is 40 litres as the manual model range on a full tank is 612 km and 679 km for the automatic variant. The range is decent but the competitors are at least offering more options rather than a single option. The company has revealed the top speed of Elevate which is 160 kph and it is electronically limited which was confirmed by the officials during the media drive. Honda is not offering the Hybrid powertrain available on the City in Elevate as it will make the compact SUV even more expensive when compared to the competition as Maruti Suzuki and Toyota offer hybrid options with their respective models.
