Ford To Make A Come Back In India With Endeavour

Ford officially announced its withdrawal from the Indian market back in 2021. However, the American manufacturer was still open for a comeback, so the company didn’t sell its two plants immediately. Later the Sanad plant was taken over by Tata Motors and the second plant was expected to be sold to JSW group. Still, the plans didn’t work out and Ford decided not to sell the plant, which opened speculations of the company planning to return to the Indian market. This has been boosted by the patent filing of the new-generation Endeavour.

According to new reports, the American manufacturer is indeed planning to make a return to the Indian market. The company has already announced new job openings as most of the employees have been laid off during the shutdown of the plant. The plans are not yet concrete as they are yet to decide which route to take for the re-entry some sources indicate that Ford might re-introduce the new-generation Endeavour via importing the model as it will allow manufacturers to bring 2,500 units without homologation.

But this route will certainly make the SUV even more expensive and most of the prospective customers won’t be able to afford it. Some reports indicate that Ford is planning to assemble the new-generation Endeavour at its Chennai plant, which will certainly help the American manufacturer to price it on par with the competitors. Endeavour has a strong fan base in the Indian market as the previous generation model is sold with a good price tag on the used market. It is certainly going to be an exciting time for Ford fans in India.
