Tata Motors is finally going to launch the Altroz Racer next month in India. The company had already showcased the special edition model multiple times as once at the Auto Expo and then again at the Bharat Mobility. Now the model has been spied on without any camouflage which suggest that the launch could take place sooner. The Altroz Racer comes with a striking dual-tone paint job, sleek black alloy wheels, and updated bumpers exuding a sporty vibe. The addition of a larger roof-mounted spoiler further accentuates its athletic stance.
Inside, the sporty theme continues with a black and orange dashboard complemented by orange stitching on the steering wheel, upholstery, and door pads. Technology takes centre stage with features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system boasting the latest UI as it is one of the biggest updates for the Altroz as the current system is dated, ventilated leatherette front seats, a 360-degree camera, a voice-activated electric sunroof, and a comprehensive safety suite including six airbags as standard.
Under the hood, the Altroz Racer packs a punch with a potent 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine sourced from the Nexon lineup, delivering an impressive 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. While initially offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, anticipation looms for the potential introduction of a 6-speed DCA transmission variant. Tata Motors boldly claims the Altroz Racer to be India’s safest and fastest hatchback, setting the stage for a thrilling performance showdown. With rivals like the Hyundai i20 N Line, boasting similar power figures and transmission options, the competition promises to be fierce in the hot hatch segment.
