Ford Teased High Performance F 150 Lightning

The American car manufacturer Ford is celebrating its collaboration with Red Bull and its return to motorsport. The partnership with Red Bull is part of a wide strategy of the brand, the performance sub division of the brand is preparing for faster vehicles in its lineup across the world. Prior to that Ford has teased a performance version of a pick up truck, and it is expected that the car maker is looking forward to bring the high performance F 150 Lightining. The vehicle will be completely based on F 150 but will be powered by pure EV. The vehicle will showcase the brands new high performance EV powertrain to the world.

The Performance Demonstrators are a series of electrified models which show the potential of the tech. As part of the range, Ford has already shown the Mustang Mach-E 1400 which produces 1044kW (or the namesake 1400hp), and a 1491kW electric Transit van, dubbed the ‘SuperVan4’. Performance should be equally insane for the F-150 Lightning. To give you an idea the SuperVan already sported a quad electric motor setup can sprint 0 to 100 in less than 2 seconds, and also comes with a burnout mode, which Ford calls the ‘tyre cleaning mode’.

What remains to be seen is whether Ford will go the off-road route, revealing a Raptor-like EV, or something more focused on track times, like the ‘EV Performance Demonstrators’ which have come before it. Indeed, the silhouette shown has a low ride height. Suggesting something a bit more track-focussed.As it is, the F-150 Lighting already sprints from 0-100km/h in under four seconds and produces 433kW/1050Nm in extended range variants, which are also able to cruise up to 515km according to the EPA standard.
