Citroen C3 Aircross Automatic Bookings Officially Open, Launch On January 29

Citroen officially opened bookings for the C3 Aircross Automatic in India. The booking amount is Rs. 25,000 and it is going to be one of the most affordable automatic SUVs in the Indian market. The automatic variant is expected to be priced at a premium of Rs. 1 lakh over the manual variant. The company has already started dispatching the initial batch of C3 Aircross automatic to the dealerships last week and the model has been spotted at some dealerships too. The company hasn’t made any changes to the exterior design theme.

The automatic variant is expected to be offered only on top-end variants at least initially as they might introduce it in lower variants too. The C3 Aircross automatic model features a 6-speed torque converter sourced from the Japanese manufacturer Aisin. This gearbox is shared with the C3 hatchback in Europe and has already proven its reliability on models like the 1.0 L turbo petrol variants of Volkswagen Virtus, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Slavia, and Skoda Kushaq in India. Despite its track record, the driving performance may vary.

Citroen plans to use the same 1.2 L turbo petrol engine, delivering 190 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque on the manual variant. Interestingly, the Indonesian model comes with a torque output of 205 Nm, surpassing the manual variant by 15 Nm. We anticipate a similar tuning for the Indian version. The automatic variant is expected to increase sales of the C3 Aircross as the model is struggling against competition because of the lack of features as the company might add some new features too.
