BYD To Launch Dolphin Soon In India, Name Trademarked

BYD is going to launch the Seal electric sedan in India on March 5th and it is going to be the third product of the Chinese manufacturer in India. Following the testing phase of its Seal EV, BYD has now trademarked the name Dolphin in India, hinting at an imminent launch. The Dolphin is likely to be BYD’s fourth offering in the Indian market. The company is yet to begin testing the Dolphin in the Indian market but we can expect to see the model under road testing closer to the launch phase which could take place later this year or early next year.

Global variants of the BYD Dolphin come with two battery pack options: a 44.9kWh unit and a more potent 60.4kWh unit. The latter delivers an impressive output of up to 174bhp and 260Nm of torque, while the former still offers a robust 201bhp and 310Nm of torque. With these power figures, the Dolphin promises a dynamic driving experience coupled with efficient electric performance. In terms of design, the Dolphin EV showcases modern aesthetics with a blend of functionality.

The Dolphin features a sleek, blanked-off grille with a faux carbon-fibre finish, complemented by projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The car rides on 17-inch aero-focused wheels and boasts thoughtful details such as a charging port on the front fender and A-pillar-mounted ORVMs. The exterior design is further accentuated by dual-tone finishes, wraparound LED taillights, and an integrated spoiler with a high-mounted stop lamp. Inside the cabin, the Dolphin offers a plethora of features aimed at enhancing comfort, convenience, and safety. Highlights include a panoramic sunroof, a sizable 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, comprehensive airbag coverage, a 360-degree camera setup, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). The vehicle also incorporates a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, allowing users to power external devices directly from the car’s battery.
