BMW X5 and X6 Facelift Officially Revealed

BMW has unveiled the facelift of X5 and X6 globally. Both the vehicles have undergone design changes and also host changes under the hood. BMW brought many cars to the country at the beginning of the year 2023. The brand has made a refresh its product portfolio with a new design language and signature curved display on the inside. The new changes made by the brand make the cars look sportier and stylish and also futuristic with very sophisticated technology. The SUV X5 and Coupe SUV X6 also feature changes to the interior and exterior to mark them as a sportier and stylish vehicle, and also the brand has added a new powertrain to the models.

The exterior of the vehicle is largely dominated with the signature kidney grille, The size of the grille fits accurately with the overall propositions of the vehicle, it doesn’t seem to be oversized. The front bumper are reprofiled to give a sportier look. The exterior styling changes are similar to the flagship SUV X7. Over the interior the biggest change and highlight is the new signature curved display of 12.3-inch instrument display and 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display as standard. To accommodate the new display the dashboard is reworked. The vehicle also features new added tech such as head-up display unit with augmented reality functionality, a panoramic glass sunroof with LED illumination, glass applications for various controls and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

The new X5 and X6 will be powered by petrol, diesel and plug in hybrid powertrains. The combustion process of the already existing engines have been updated with valve control and ignition system. The turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol unit on the X5 xDrive50i and X6 xDrive40i delivers 380hp and 520Nm (up 47hp and 70Nm). The diesel variant (X5 xDrive30d, X6 xDrive30d) makes a maximum of 298hp and 670Nm. The standard six-cylinder petrol and diesel, as well as the V8 petrol, all gain a 48V battery, adding 12hp and 200Nm via a gearbox-mounted electric motor. The M60 nameplate have now been replaced with X5 M50 xDrive and X6 M50 xDrive but the engine will remain same 4.4 litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine as before with 530hp and 750Nm.

The new addition to the powertrain is the new Plug in hybrid option. The PHEV power train is equipped with 3.0 litre turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine now makes 313hp, 27hp more than before. Together with a more powerful gearbox-mounted electric motor developing an added 84hp, the overall system power has increased to 490hp. Torque also climbs by 100Nm to 700Nm, and battery capacity has increased by 3.4kWh to 25.7kWh. This helps it provide a claimed electric-only range between 94-110km on the WLTP test cycle. The vehicle is expected to launch by end of this or early 2024.
