By BMW officially opened the bookings of the X3 M40i in the Indian market. The X3 M40i is the only petrol model currently available in the X3 lineup as the company discontinued the petrol version earlier. This is not the full-blown M version of X3 as the company might bring the X3 M later this year in India. The X3 M40i is powered by the same engine which does duty on the popular M340i as it is basically the SUV version based on the 3 Series platform.
The 3.0 L turbocharged petrol engine produces 355 of power and 500 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the power is sent to all-four wheels via the xDrive all-wheel drive system of BMW. The performance numbers are nuts as 0-100 kph comes up in 4.9 sec and top-speed is 250 kph. On the outside, the M-bumpers and alloy wheels do give a sporty look to the SUV and some M-elements on the interior also increase the sporty quotient.
