BMW Outsold Mercedes Benz In 2022 Global Annual Sales

BMW beats Mercedes Benz in global annual sales in the year 2022. The year 2022 was a great year for both the manufacturer and the global sales report conveys that BMW outsold Mercedes Benz only for a very marginal sales which helps BMW to retain its position as the best-selling premium car brand in the world. Both the brands have expanded their product portfolio on both ICE and EV. And BMW has seen significant growth in both the ICE and EV powertrain vehicles.

BMW managed to sell more vehicles than Mercedes Benz but looking into the sales figures it is identified that the brand has a significant drop of 4.8 percent. BMW registered 21,00,692 cars last year, compared to Mercedes-Benz, which recorded 20,43,900 units of sales. Also, BMW, MINI & Rolls Royce, which make up the BMW Group, collectively registered 24,99,636 units across the globe. The electric mobility divison of the brand has a very significant increase of 108 percent in sales with 2,15,755 units of sales, mainly led by the BMW i4 & iX offerings.

BMW group is comprised of the MINI and Rolls Royce too. Rolls Royce registered a 7.8% increase in sales with 6,021 units, while MINI recorded 2,92,923 units of sales – translating to a 3 percent drop. Having said that, sales of MINI’s electric & PHEV offerings went up by 14.3 percent with 61,000 units. An 8.4 percent increase was seen in sales of BMW’s M Performance division which is recorded as an all-time high of 1,77,257 units of sales. BMW’s Motorrad motorcycle arm also scored its best ever year by 4.4 percent increase with 202,895 units. However this year, BMW has planned many launches and expanding its business all over the world with new products and innovations. The electric vehicles from the brand has seen a very good welcoming and it is expected that the brand will come up with more electric vehicles this year.
