By BMW officially commenced the bookings of the i5 electric sedan in India as customers can either book the electric sedan at the dealerships or via the official website. The i5 will come to India in the top-spec M60 xDrive variant, which offers additional power and performance along with an all-wheel drive system. The i5 comes to India via the CBU route and as we reported earlier, the German manufacturer will be offering the electric sedan with a standard wheelbase while the 5 Series comes with a long wheelbase.
The M60 xDrive comes with an 81.2 kWh battery pack and two electric motors on each axle. The combined power output is 601 bhp of power and 820 Nm of torque. The performance numbers are really good as 0-100 kph comes up in 3.8 sec and the top speed is 230 kph. Even with impressive performance, the i5 comes with a good range of 516 km. The battery can be easily topped up using a 205 kW charger as it takes just 30 minutes to reach 80 per cent from 10 per cent. BMW also offers an 11 kW AC charger and it can be upgraded to a 22 kW AC charger. The deliveries of the i5 will begin in May 2024 and we can expect the price to be announced near the launch.
