BMW Celebrates 2 Million Production Of 7 Series At It’s Dingolfing Plant

The German car manufacturer BMW Celebrates the 2 million Production of its flagship sedan 7 Series at its Dingolfing Plant in Germany. It is a huge success for the brand to roll out its 2 millionth 7 Series. The factory has been manufacturing the 7 Series since 1977. Over 4 decades of manufacturing, Dingolfing Plant has seen every generation of the 7 Series to date and the plant manufactures both the 7 Series and its electric version i7. The 2 millionth 7 Series manufactured in the plant is a black i7 xDrive60 with a cognac-painted interior made of a vegan leather alternative.

The first generation 7 Series was started manufacturing in the plant in 1977. Every Generation 7 Series was equipped with a segment-first feature. The first generation 7 Series was launched with revolutionary features in the segment, including standard power steering, automatic transmission with two pre-programmed driving modes, and an onboard computer. Over the next two generations, the premium sedan received goodies such as ABS, parking sensors, a navigation system, airbags, and many others. The current model is the seventh generation 7 Series which is also equipped with world-class and first-in-segment features.

It is the brand’s largest factory in Europe and is also responsible for producing the 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 8 Series, and iX. The annual output of the factory is close to 250,000 units. The Dingolfing plant manager Christoph Schroder comments. “The BMW 7 Series is our top model. In it, we combine progressive luxury and the latest technologies. Like no other model, it stands for automotive innovations and now also for our electric offensive in the luxury segment. What makes me particularly proud is that we have been producing it here since it was introduced 45 years ago.”
