By Ather is going to launch its first family electric scooter Rizta on April 6th at its community day event. The company has already released multiple teasers of the electric scooter as one of the things the company is focusing on is its spacious seat and the overall size of the scooter, which is going to be the biggest in its segment. Now the Indian start-up has confirmed that the Rizta electric scooter will come with the same battery pack as the existing 450 Series, which was not expected as Rizta is bigger and heavier than the 450 Series.
Currently, Ather offers 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh battery packs with the 450 Series of electric scooters. The range of 2.9 kWh is 111 km and 150 Km for the 3.7 kWh but the Rizta is expected to offer a much lower claimed range. We were expecting Ather to introduce a slightly larger battery pack for the Rizta and it might happen at a later stage also. The company could be waiting for the clarification of the FAME subsidy scheme as the government is planning to remove it which could result in increasing the price of existing and upcoming models.
The power figures might be similar to what we have already seen on the 450 Series. The design theme of the Rizta electric scooter is completely different from other Ather models as it gets a conventional scooter design theme. The Rizta deviates from some other electric two-wheelers on the market by not having a hub-mounted motor, which might have lowered costs for Ather. However, the company aims for premium pricing, leveraging features like LED headlamps, tail lamps, and indicators.
