Toyota Innova Crysta Petrol Sales Will be Stopped After April 2023

Toyota is going to discontinue the petrol variant of Innova Crysta from April 2023 as the company has already removed the diesel variants but reports have indicated that it will make come back sometime in the near future. Phase -II of BSVI emission norms will kick in from April 2023 onwards and manufacturers need to make some tweaks to the engines to meet the new norms which include new Real Driving Emissions (RDE) and MIDC (Modified Indian Test Cycle). The current petrol engine won’t meet these emissions, which is why decided to discontinue the petrol version.

Toyota has recently launched the very new Innova Hycross in the country. The Hycross is a well-built car that offers more comfort and improved styling. however, the vehicle is built on a monocoque chassis whereas the previous generations were built on rugged body on frame chassis. The new Hycross has carried over the legacy of the name Innova but it doesn’t really carry forward the way the vehicle is powered. The previous generation diesel and petrol engines gave raw power to the vehicle making it a mile hunter to hit thousands of kilometres with an urge to run forward more and more. The only reason to choose the Innova Crysta was its diesel engine and with no diesel engine on offer, the Crysta doesn’t make any sense to be sold along with the Innova Hycross as the Hycross offers the same petrol-only model.

After April 2023 the Innova segment will be offered only with the Innova Hycross. The Innova Hycross is offered in 2 different powertrains petrol and a petrol Hybrid. The 2.0-litre pure petrol engine produces 172 hp and 205 Nm of torque whereas the 2.0-litre petrol hybrid produces a combined output of 184 hp and 188 Nm of torque. However, the best part of the Hycross hybrid is its fuel efficiency, the Hycross hybrid offers a fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl which largely makes people opt for the hybrid powertrain as the previous generation Innovas was able to give only a fuel efficiency of 10 kmpl. As the Innova Hycross offers more drivers involved feel there is absolutely no need for the petrol Crysta on the market. however, there could be a different opinion from others about the rear wheel drive and body on the frame chassis of the Innova Crysta but the fact conveys that the front wheel drive architecture and monocoque chassis make the Hycross far better in comfort, practicality and improved driving dynamics.
