Top 5 Best-Selling Hatchbacks In November 2023

November is generally a lacklustre month for automobile manufacturers as it comes after the festival season rush so generally sales are down. In this article, we take a look at the top 5 best-selling hatchbacks in November 2023. Like earlier, the sales are dominated by Maruti Suzuki as the best-selling hatchback in India is the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, which maintained the top position from October 2023. But when we look at the numbers, the overall numbers have come down by a big margin but it could again improve in December thanks to year-end-benefits.

1. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 16,567

Maruti Suzuki sold 16,567 units in November 2023 compared to 14,720 units in the same month last year, which is 12.5 per cent Year-on-Year growth. But the company sold 22,080 units in October and Month-on-Month sales have come down by 25 per cent. The Wagon R is India’s favourite tall boy hatchback as the Japanese manufacturer introduced the new-generation model in 2019 and since then sales have picked up. The 1.0 L engine produces 66 hp of power and 89 Nm of torque while the 1.2 L K-Series engine puts out 89 hp and 113 Nm. The gearbox options include manual and automatic.

2. Maruti Suzuki Swift 15,311

The second-best-selling hatchback in India is against Maruti Suzuki and it is the Swift as the company has managed to sell 15,311 units in November 2023 compared to 15,153 units in the same month last year as the sales growth is 1 per cent. When we take a look at the October 2023 sales of November has come down by 25.7 per cent. Suzuki globally revealed the new generation of Swift and it is expected to be introduced next year the sales of the current model are going well but the big USP of the upcoming model could be the Hybrid engine.

3. Tata Tiago – 5508

The third-best-selling hatchback in the Indian market is the Tiago as it is the only hatchback from Tata Motors in the top five. The company has managed to sell 5508 units of the Tiago in November 2023 compared to 5097 units in the same month last year, which is 2.8 per cent year-on-year growth. The company sold 5356 units in October 2023 which is low compared to what Tata Motors managed to sell last month. The Tiago is powered by a 1.2 L petrol engine producing 85 hp of power and 113 Nm of torque, this engine is mated to manual and automatic gearbox options.

4. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios – 4708

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios has come down a position compared to October 2023 as the company sold 4708 units in November 2023 compared to 7961 units in the same month last year, which is 40.9 per cent negative growth. In October 2023 Hyundai managed to sell 6562 units and posted negative month-on-month growth of 28.1 per cent. The Grand i10 NIOS is expected to get an updated version as the current model has been in the market for some time now. Hyundai is offering lots of year-end discounts with the Grand i10 Nios.

5. Maruti Suzuki Celerio – 2215

As we have said in the beginning, three out of five models in this list are Maruti Suzuki and the fifth model is Celerio. The company sold 2215 units in November 2023 compared to 2483 units in the same month last year, which negative growth of 10.8 per cent. In October 2023 Maruti was able to sell 4317 units which is good thanks to the festival season and the negative growth is 48.7 per cent. The Celerio is powered by a 1.0 L K10C series engine producing 66 hp of power and 89 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to manual and automatic gearbox options.
