Tata Punch EV Rival From MG Could Be Based On Baojun Yep Plus

Baojun officially revealed Yep Plus for the Chinese market. The Yep Plus is the bigger version of the Yep and both these models are based on the same platform as Comet EV which is the Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV). In terms of dimensions, the Yep Plus has grown big as the overall wheelbase increased by 450 mm to 2560 mm. The length has increased by 600 mm, width by 75 mm and height by 5 mm. The company developed this new platform from the ground up to accommodate models of various sizes and shapes.

The Yep Plus follows the same design theme as the Yep which is inspired by SUV models like Jimny and Defender as the front gets LED headlamps along with a black finish and the logo is placed on the middle. Baojun has also given an updated design for the bumper while the side gets an additional door and the mirrors are placed on the door instead of the A-pillar like those on the Yep. Baojun has given black plastic cladding across the body for SUV look and wheel arches get a slightly bulky design theme.

The rear gets LED tail lamps and it gets a similar design theme to that on the front. The company is yet to reveal images of the interior but it is likely to be similar to the three-door version and some new features are also expected. The Yep Plus gets a 75 kWh electric motor while the power output is not yet disclosed and the top speed is 150 kph. The CLTC claimed range is 401 km, which is good considering the size of the vehicle. Some reports indicate that MG might introduce Yep Plus with a different design theme to take on the Tata Punch EV.
