Skoda’s 2024 Enyaq RS Revealed: More Power and Extended Range for the High-Performance Electric SUV

For those who jumped on the Skoda Enyaq Coupe RS bandwagon early, the news might be bittersweet because Skoda is already upping the ante on this high-performance electric SUV. Despite being less than two years old, with its initial unveiling in January 2022, the Enyaq RS is now receiving a notable upgrade. This comes hot on the heels of the conventionally styled Enyaq RS, introduced just a year ago in October 2022. As we step into October 2023, both variants are welcoming two crucial enhancements: increased power and extended range.

The 2024 model year has made its debut in the United Kingdom, and the headline news is a substantial boost in power – an additional 40 horsepower, to be precise. The dual electric motors now deliver a combined 335 horsepower, making the Enyaq RS the most potent production car in Skoda’s lineup, surpassing even the upcoming 261-horsepower 2024 Superb. Thanks to this newfound electric muscle, the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint now takes just five and a half seconds, a full second quicker than before.

Typically, more power can lead to a reduction in range, but that’s not the case here. The 2024 Enyaq has been made even more efficient compared to its predecessor. The electric motors have undergone recalibration, and the addition of new power management software has extended the regular Enyaq RS’s range by 15 miles, bringing it to a total of 336 miles (541 kilometers) on the WLTP cycle. Opt for the “coupe” version, and you’ll gain an extra 16 miles, offering an impressive 340 miles (547 kilometers) of electric range.

In addition to the power and range improvements, Skoda has also increased the DC charging capability from 135 kW to 175 kW. This enhancement translates to an eight-minute reduction in the time it takes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent, now achievable in approximately 28 minutes. Furthermore, the 2024 model year brings updates to the graphics used in the digital instrument cluster, head-up display, and infotainment system, enhancing the overall user experience. Earlier this year, the Enyaq also received a more luxurious Laurin & Klement trim level. Looking ahead, Skoda has already teased the second-generation Enyaq, set for a 2025 release. This next iteration will introduce a sleeker sibling with a sloping roofline, expanding the Enyaq family’s appeal even further.
