Skoda Might Announce Compact SUV Details On February 27

Skoda India is going to conduct a major event on February 27th in India as the company is expected to announce its plans along with the debut of Enyaq iV. The company is developing a new compact SUV under four metres in length and some reports indicate that details of this new product might be revealed at the event. The India 2.0 project has been a huge success for the company and the localisation of MQB AO IN has helped to keep costs low. The upcoming compact SUV is based on the India 2.5 project, which will steer the future of Skoda and Volkswagen.

To maintain competitive pricing, the upcoming compact SUV will incorporate numerous components from the Kushaq model, including seats, electrical components, suspension parts, and infotainment systems, among others. The utilization of economies of scale will play a pivotal role, reducing overall costs to the advantage of the company, and potentially resulting in lower prices for consumers. Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India emphasized the significance of localization as a key strategy for this product, expressing confidence in meeting market expectations regarding pricing.

This upcoming compact SUV won’t get a Volkswagen sibling as the German manufacturer is planning to introduce electric vehicles in India rather than focusing on ICE engines as both manufacturers are taking a different approach. Skoda needs to get good volumes but the company has got a green signal from the headquarters to develop this new model and we can expect new investment to be announced at the upcoming event too. The launch of the Skoda Compact SUV is expected to take place in March 2025.
