Skoda India has officially sent out block-your-date invites for an event, which will take place on February 27 as the only thing the company mentioned on the invite is “The New Era of Skoda India Begins”. The Czech manufacturer showcased the Enyaq iV at the Bharat Mobility Expo and reports indicate that the event could be for the official debut of the Enyaq iV as the price announcement might take place in March. Still, the booking is expected to commence on the same day and the Enyaq iV will be the first EV of Skoda in India.
Apart from the EV, the company might announce its plans for the future as the India 2.0 project has been a huge success for both Skoda and Volkswagen. The India 2.5 project is expected to introduce lots of new models as it is likely to start with the new compact SUV and the production model could make its debut in January during next year’s Bharat Mobility Expo. The compact SUV is showing really good growth and the upcoming model shares lots of components with the Kushaq to keep costs in check.
The engine for the upcoming compact SUV will be the 1.0 L TSI engine that doesn’t duty on lots of products and it will come with the same manual and automatic gearbox options but the 1.5 L TSI engine won’t be introduced because of the cost. The Enyaq iV is powered by a 77kWh battery, capable of supporting up to 125kW DC fast charging. Equipped with dual motors, one on each axle, this SUV delivers all-wheel drive (AWD) capability and a combined power output of 265hp. Skoda claims the Enyaq iV 80x can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 6.9 seconds and offers a WLTP-rated range of up to 513km.
