Land Rover has silently launched the plugin hybrid version of the flagship Range Rover lineup in the market at a starting price of INR 2.62 crore. The flagship SUV is offered in diesel, petrol, mild hybrid and now in plugin hybrid variants. The PHEV version is expected to increase fuel efficiency and also give it a more refined ride with dedicated EV mode. The introduction of this PHEV power train is a great step ahead for the brand before bringing the fully electric SUV. And it is offered in both standard wheelbase and extended wheelbase variants. The Range Rover has carried over its legacy over the years and now it is coupled with more technology and also carried forward its off-road ability.

The PHEV variant is priced more expensive than the V8 power train. It is priced from INR 2.62 crores to a range-topping price of INR 4.15 crore ex-showroom. The longer wheelbase gets the PHEV powertrain in SE, HSE, Autobiography and First edition models. The standard wheelbase PHEV is offered in 440 ps and 510 ps variants whereas the longer wheelbase variants are offered in only 440 ps variants. The PHEV power train is not offered in the seven-seater variant.

The PHEV power train is equipped with the smallest 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine that is paired with an electric motor that is tuned to produce a maximum power of either 440 ps and 510 ps and 550 Nm of torque. The SUV is powerful enough to sprint from 0 to 100 in 6 seconds with a top speed of 225 Kmph. The EV-only mode in the Range Rover is able to give a WLTP range of 100 Km which uses the power from a 38.2kWh battery pack paired with a 141PS traction electric motor.

The SUV is offered in 3.0-litre petrol, 3.0-litre diesel and 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 sourced from BMW. All the 3 engines are equipped with mild hybrid tech whereas a plug-in hybrid is offered only with 3.0-litre petrol. The flagship SUV plugin hybrid rivals with Volvo XC 90 Recharge, Rolls Royce Cullinan, and Bentley Bentayga. Land Rover will bring the fully electric version of the SUV in 2 years.
