Next-Generation Mercedes Benz GLC Rendered

Mercedes Benz is working on the second generation of GLC, which is expected to reach the market sometime next year or even 2022. The new generation GLC test mule has been spied for the first time earlier this week and the first rendering of the GLC is out right now. The overall design theme is in line with other models of Mercedes especially the new GLE and GLS as the front gets wider grille along with slightly smaller swept-back headlamps.

According to earlier reports, Mercedes might add a three-row seating option for the GLC and dimensions could be significantly bigger than the outgoing model. The GLC is basically the crossover version of C Class sedan and both models will be based on the same Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform as current models but the engineers will make lots of changes as the new models will come with combustion engines, electric and hybrid options too.

The rear gets new wider LED tail lamps along with a new bumper and the company might add real exhausts too. The interior will be completely different than the first-generation model as Mercedes is expected to remove most of the buttons and instead everything could be controlled using a touch screen. We could get a better idea of what the interior of future Mercedes models looks like when the company reveals its flagship sedan later this year.

The infotainment system will get lots more features and a big step up is expected in the autonomous driving too. Mercedes will offer lots of different engine options and some rumours are indicating that the flagship GLC 63 could lose the V8 engine as the performance SUV might come with a four-cylinder engine with electric boost and it could still produce more power than current model. The AMG C63 is also following this route. Mercedes GLC competes against BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
