By BMW released the first teaser image of the eighth-generation 5 Series, which is expected to be revealed sometime by the middle of this year. The German manufacturer confirmed that the next-generation 5 Series will also get a fully-electric version, which is called the i5 and it will be revealed alongside the ICE models. The 5 Series lineup will include sedan and station-wagon models but the electric version might be available only in sedan form.
Like the current generation model, we can also expect BMW to introduce a full-blown M version of the 5 Series but it is expected to be introduced at a later stage. The design theme of the new 5 Series might not follow the 7 Series theme as it could follow the path of 3 Series while the interior will be completely new and comes with the latest i-drive system of the company. The ICE engine options could be petrol, diesel and plug-in-hybrid models.
