MG To Launch Gloster Facelift Later This Year

MG is planning to introduce a major update for the Gloster as the test mule has been spotted multiple times. Since its debut in India in 2020, the Gloster has established itself as a premium offering in the SUV segment. Based on the Maxus SUV range from parent company SAIC, the Gloster shares its DNA with the LDV D90, a popular model in markets like Australia. The latest spy shots suggest that the facelift draws inspiration from the LDV D90, featuring a more angular front fascia and a larger, squarish grille adorned with multiple square elements finished in satin black.

Notable changes include a revamped headlamp setup reminiscent of the Hector, MG’s other successful offering. The addition of faux air inlets on the grille corners enhances the SUV’s aggressive stance. Moreover, increased body cladding, particularly with variants sporting a contrast matte black finish. While the rear receives subtle tweaks such as restyled tail lamps and a revised bumper, the overall silhouette remains familiar yet refreshed. Enthusiasts speculate that MG Motor may introduce additional chrome embellishments to align with the brand’s design language seen in models like the Hector and Astor.

The engine is expected to be the same 2.0 L diesel engine with the option of both 4×2 and 4×4 options. Despite no anticipated changes in the powertrain, sources suggest minor tech updates in the pipeline before the full-fledged facelift arrives later this year. We are not expecting the company to make any major mechanical changes for the Gloster as it is already one of the most capable SUVs in its segment. The launch of the Gloster facelift is expected to take place by the end of this year.
