By MG Motor India has unveiled the striking Astor Blackstorm edition, catering to those who appreciate a bold and distinctive aesthetic. This special edition, priced between Rs 14.48 lakh and Rs 15.77 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), builds on the success of the Gloster Blackstorm and exudes an alluring black theme both inside and out. Much like the trend of dark-themed editions from other automakers like Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, and Volkswagen, MG has given the Astor the full noir treatment. The exterior showcases a captivating black hue, extending to the alloy wheels, grille, door trims, bumpers, headlamps, and roof rails. The only hint of color on the exterior is the red brake calipers, adding a touch of sportiness. Additionally, the Blackstorm edition proudly flaunts a unique Blackstorm emblem on the front fenders and features a distinctive honeycomb pattern on the grille.
Despite the transformation, the Astor’s dimensions remain consistent, with a length of 4,323mm, a width of 1,809mm, a height of 1,650mm, and a wheelbase of 2,585mm. Inside the cabin, the all-black treatment continues, accentuated by red stitching on the seats, steering wheel, and door trims. Red accents adorn the AC vents in the corners, creating a visually striking contrast. The seats feature a fabric insert with a checkered pattern, and the soft-touch dashboard boasts a carbon fiber-like design.
The Astor Blackstorm, based on the Smart trim, packs a generous array of features, including a panoramic sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, cruise control, automatic headlamps, automatic climate control, and a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster. Safety is prioritized with two airbags, ABS, all-four disc brakes, a reverse camera, three-point seat belts with reminders for all passengers, and ISOFIX anchors. Under the hood, the Astor Blackstorm is powered by a 110hp, 144Nm, 1.5-liter petrol engine, available with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. It’s worth noting that the standard Astor also offers a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine with 140hp and 220Nm of torque, exclusively paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This captivating special edition is available at an attractive starting price of Rs 14.48 lakh for the manual variant and Rs 15.77 lakh for the automatic variant.
