Mercedes AMG C43 Launched In India, Price Starts At Rs. 98 Lakh

Mercedes AMG officially launched the new AMG C43 in India at the starting price of Rs. 98 Lakh (Ex-Showroom). This latest addition expands Mercedes-Benz’s acclaimed AMG portfolio to a grand total of nine meticulously crafted models, further cementing the brand’s position in the Indian luxury automobile market. Notably, this launch event also witnessed the debut of the GLE facelift, adding to the excitement of the day. The distinguishing hallmark of the Mercedes-AMG C 43 is its robust powertrain. Departing from its predecessor’s 362hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine, the new C 43 boasts a revamped 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine equipped with an electric turbocharger.

This power-packed unit effortlessly generates an impressive 408hp and delivers a substantial 500Nm of torque, further amplified by an additional 14hp, courtesy of the innovative 48V mild-hybrid system. The power seamlessly flows through a responsive nine-speed automatic gearbox featuring the ‘Race Start’ function, channelling power to all four wheels through the renowned Merc-AMG 4MATIC drive system. Significantly, this system maintains a rear-wheel bias, with a compelling 69 percent of power dispatched to the rear axle, allowing the Mercedes-AMG C 43 to sprint from 0 to 100kph in an astonishing 4.6 seconds, establishing its dominance in the high-performance realm.

The chassis of the vehicle has undergone meticulous reengineering, encompassing a refined front axle design and the integration of the AMG Ride Control suspension, characterized by double wishbones at the front, adaptive dampers, and multi-links at the rear. A remarkable mechanical addition to the vehicle is the rear-wheel steering system, elevating its agility and handling capabilities. Braking prowess has also been enhanced, thanks to the introduction of new 370mm steel discs, equipped with four-piston calipers at the front, and 320mm steel discs, featuring single-piston floating calipers at the rear. The Mercedes-AMG C 43 features a bespoke exhaust system, meticulously tuned to deliver the quintessential AMG symphony, ensuring that the vehicle sounds exactly as an AMG should.

The visually distinctive Mercedes-AMG C 43 resonates with the unmistakable AMG lineage, as exemplified by the Panamericana grille adorned with vertical slats. Traditionally, this iconic grille was reserved for AMG’s 63 series, but it now graces various 43 models, including this one. The exterior charm is further heightened by adaptive LED headlights, distinguished by a distinctive single DRL, commanding air intakes on the front bumper, accentuated with black accents, and glossy black wing mirrors. The side profile retains its classic appeal, albeit with a touch of modernity in the form of ‘Turbo Electrified’ badges, enhanced side sills, and standard 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the AMG C 43 showcases quad tailpipes and a rear bumper with a diffuser, not only enhancing its aesthetics but also contributing to improved aerodynamics. To cater to individual tastes, the vehicle offers a choice of seven metallic paint options and three customization possibilities through Mercedes’ Manufaktur arm.

Within the cabin, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 seamlessly balances opulence with high-performance credentials. While sharing some features with the standard C-Class, the interior boasts AMG-specific digital graphics displayed on the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The distinct AMG-themed leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, sports seats, pedals, and striking red seat belts add to the sporty ambiance. The vehicle is also equipped with advanced features, such as Merc’s intelligent auto headlights, known as Digital Light, and an immersive 710W, 15-speaker Burmester sound system, ensuring an auditory experience like no other.

Priced at Rs. 98 lakh, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC undoubtedly occupies a premium slot in the market. While this places it in a higher price range compared to its primary competitors, the BMW M340i (Rs. 71.5 lakh) and the Audi S5 Sportback (Rs. 75.74 lakh), the Mercedes-AMG C 43 justifies its elevated cost with an unparalleled combination of formidable power, luxurious amenities, and the authentic AMG driving experience. This exceptional vehicle undoubtedly stands as a compelling choice for enthusiasts seeking a symphony of high performance and luxury in one harmonious package.
