KTM Big Bikes Are Still Far Away for India

KTM is one of the favorite motorcycles of Indian bike enthusiasts and for a long time they are waiting for the brand to bring their bigger bikes into the country. Currently, the motorcycle manufacturer offers only 125, 200, and 390 cc motorcycle in the country. But India was offered a bigger engine KTM bike back in 2019. The Duke 790 was launched in the country back in limited numbers and was discontinued in the market due to BS6 emission norms. All the enthusiasts who love KTM bikes are looking forward to the brand to bring in their bigger motorcycles in India such as the 890 Duke, 890 Adventure and 1290 Super Duke.

The 890 Duke, 890 Adventure, and 1290 Super Duke were showcased at the IBW (Indian Bike Week) that happened in Goa in 2022. This created hope in the enthusiasts for the bikes to be launched in India soon. However the CEO at KTM AG, Mr.Stefan Pierer confirmed that bigger KTM bikes are not yet considered for India because of the country’s high tax rate and low volume of big bikes. It is very challenging for the manufacturer to bring the bigger bikes to India as the tax rate and low volume will boost the price of the bike and imports of the bikes are way too expensive. Hence bigger bikes of KTM like the 890 Duke and 890 Adventure might come to India at a later stage.
