Kia Seltos Petrol Automatic Recalled In India

Kia officially announced a recall for the petrol automatic version of the Seltos in India. The voluntary recall is for 4358 units, which are manufactured between February 28, 2023 and July 13, 2023. The reason for the recall of the Seltos Petrol automatic version is because of a potential error in the electronic oil pump controller, which may impact the performance of the electronic oil pump of the automatic gearbox. The company is reaching out to customers whose vehicles are affected and replacing the part free of cost.

This is the first time, Seltos has been recalled in India as the Korean manufacturer had already recalled Carens twice in October 2022 and June 2023 the first one was for a faulty airbag. The faulty issue is for the 1.5 L naturally aspirated petrol engine with 115 hp of power and this engine is mated to CVT gearbox. Kia officially launched the Seltos facelift in July 2023 and since then the response to the updated model has been excellent. Kia has taken a step forward by replacing the 1.4 L turbo petrol engine with a new 1.5 L unit, generating 160 PS and 253 Nm of torque. Furthermore, the Seltos offers 1.5 L diesel and petrol engines, available with manual and automatic transmission options.

Recently the company has announced that the bookings for the Seltos facelift crossed the 1 lakh milestone as the SUV achieved it within one year of the launch. The average monthly bookings for the Seltos is 13,500, while the company received more than 13,000 bookings on the first day. Within one month, the bookings for the updated model crossed 31,000 which is impressive. The Seltos compete against models like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
