Jeep Compass Diesel 2WD Automatic Launch Soon

Jeep India is gearing up to enhance its Compass SUV lineup with the introduction of more affordable 2WD variants of the Compass diesel-automatic. The big news comes with an official price announcement scheduled for September 16, bringing a wave of excitement to prospective buyers. One of the notable changes for the entire Jeep Compass lineup in India includes updated grille designs and alloy wheel options. Currently, the Compass range in India exclusively offers diesel powertrains, with automatic transmissions limited to the 4×4 variants. This configuration has contributed to a higher starting price, beginning at over Rs 29 lakh (ex-showroom), primarily due to the unavailability of the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine following BS6 Stage II norms.

The upcoming introduction of affordable 2WD variants for the diesel-automatic lineup aims to make the Jeep Compass even more accessible to a wider range of customers. These variants will cater to those who prefer the convenience of an automatic gearbox without the need for 4×4 capabilities. In addition to this significant update, there are expectations for the Compass petrol variant to make a comeback in the future, offering even more choices to potential buyers. The refreshed Compass lineup will be available in five trims: Sport, Longitude, Longitude+, Limited, and Model S.

The Sport trim will retain its position as the entry-level model, exclusively offering the diesel-manual powertrain. A new addition, the Compass Longitude trim, will provide buyers with the option of a 2WD manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox, making it the new entry point for the Compass automatic range, with an expected on-road price of approximately Rs 27 lakh. The Longitude+ trim will come equipped with desirable features like a panoramic sunroof and a wireless charger, in addition to those offered on the Longitude trim. The Limited trim will also introduce a new Black Shark edition, featuring an all-black interior and stylish black alloy wheels.

At the top of the lineup, the Model S will continue to be available in both 2WD automatic and 4WD automatic variants. Furthermore, all trims will sport redesigned alloy wheels, and the Limited and Model S trims will offer a new chrome grille option. With select dealers reportedly accepting unofficial bookings for the updated Compass lineup, anticipation is building for more details to be revealed at the official launch. Customers can expect deliveries to commence by the end of this month or early next month, making the Jeep Compass an even more attractive proposition in the Indian SUV market.
