By Hyundai officially launched the Exter in India at the starting price of Rs. 5.99 Lakh (Ex-Showroom). The Exter is based on the Grand i10 platform and it the first model from Hyundai in the Micro-SUV segment. The design theme of Exter is inline with other modern Hyundai models especially the Venue as the front get split-headlamps setup in which the H-like LED DRLs is placed on the top and projector headlamps are positioned slightly lower. The bumper gets faux skid plates and overall, the front looks like an SUV.
The side design is simple as the company has given diamond-cut five-spoke alloy wheels and the shoulder line starts from the front fender and goes all the way around. The c-pillar gets a black element to give a wrap around effect and the roof rail is also part of the package. The rear gets H-shape element on the tail lamps and a black element connects them with Hyundai logo in the middle. The bumper gets the same faux skid plates as the front bumper.
The interior design is similar to what we have seen on the Grand i10. But Hyundai has given all-black interior colour instead of dual-tone colour available on the NIOS. The infotainment system is the same 8-inch unit from NIOS but the Exter gets same digital instrument cluster from Verna and i20 with 4.2 inch MID in the middle. The steering wheel is also shared with the NIOS and the micro-suv gets integrated headrests for front seats and three pointed seat-belts for all passengers at rear.
Hyundai Exter comes in five variants – EX, S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect trims. The SX (O) Connect Trims indicate that it might get the connected car tech and the features will be similar to the Venue. The Exter is powered by 1.2 L Kappa series petrol engine with 83 PS and 113 Nm of torque, mated to 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. Hyundai is also offering a CNG version too and the Exter is going to compete against Tata Punch.
