By Hyundai began works on the EV model based on the next-generation Creta but the prototype spotted near Chennai is basically the current-generation Creta as there is a big protrusion under the body to house the battery pack. We have seen a similar adaptation on the Citroen eC3 and Mercedes Benz EQC. The upcoming Creta EV is codenamed SU2i EV and the new platform could be developed for both ICE and Battery electric vehicles.
The company hasn’t given any details of the Creta EV but reports suggest that the model could be introduced by the end of 2024 or early 2025 with a global debut taking place at the 2025 Auto Expo. The design could be revolutionary and the interior will be packed with even more features. We can expect some of the techs from Ioniq 5 to be available on the Creta EV. Hyundai might introduce some market EV models before the arrival of the Creta EV.
