Hyundai Alcazar Launch Delayed Till May 2021

Hyundai was planning to launch the Alcazar this month but due to the rising COVID-19 cases across the country and lockdown in some states, the company has delayed the launch. The much-awaited SUV is expected to be introduced by the end of next month if the situation improves. Hyundai is not the only manufacturer that has delayed launches as Skoda and Isuzu also had to follow the same path along with premium manufacturers like Mercedes Benz and Audi too.

We saw the Alcazar for the first time in Jaipur during the preview drive and the SUV is based on the same platform as Creta. The current trend in the SUV segment is 7-seats, which is why Tata launched the Safari and MG introduced the Hector Plus. The design theme is shared with Creta but Hyundai has made some changes like updated grille and tweaked bumper at the front. The changes to the side start from the second door and the roof design is also different.

The Alcazar comes with a new set of alloy wheels and the rear gets a new completely new design, which makes the SUV look different from its sibling. The overall dimensions have also gone up significantly to improve space inside the cabin. The interior will also get some tweaks to increase the premium feel. Hyundai is offering either 6 or 7 seats and the 6-seater models get a unique centre console between the second-row seats with features like wireless charging.

For the third row, Hyundai offers a reclining function and individual AC controls to further improve comfort for the passengers. The SUV gets single touch tumbling seats in the second row to improve easy access for the third row. Hyundai Alcazar is powered by an updated 2.0 L petrol engine from Elantra producing 159 PS and 192 Nm and a 1.5 L diesel engine with 115 PS. These engines are mated to manual and automatic gearbox options.
