BMW X2 Teased Ahead Of Official Debut

BMW officially released a new teaser of the next-generation X2. While the X2 might not have enjoyed the same popularity as some of BMW’s other models, it’s set to capture attention once again with its upcoming debut. The excitement surrounding the new X2 is steadily building, thanks to a teaser released by BMW. Domagoj Dukec, the head of BMW’s design department, shared a tantalizing video on Instagram, offering a sneak peek at the X2’s revamped design. Even in the short and shadowy clip, it’s evident that the X2 is going to be a head-turner.

From the side, the X2 showcases its distinctive coupe-like profile, complete with a sloped roofline and an aggressively angled rear hatch. A subtle static spoiler adds a touch of sportiness to the overall aesthetic. As the vehicle rotates, the front end reveals itself, showcasing illuminated radiator grilles with a unique shape compared to its predecessor. These grilles bear a resemblance to the ones found on the refreshed X6, but with slightly different proportions. Complementing the grille are C-shaped LED daytime running lights, lending the X2 an unmistakable visual appeal.

Under the skin, the next-gen X2 is built on BMW’s FAAR platform, which it shares with the current X1 and other models in the lineup. While the X2 won’t offer engines with more than four cylinders, the range-topping M35i xDrive variant is expected to feature a potent 2.0-liter turbocharged engine generating an impressive 312 horsepower. Lesser variants will offer a choice of gasoline and diesel engines, catering to different regions, and some models will incorporate electrification for increased efficiency.

In a nod to the future, BMW is also preparing an all-electric version of the X2, known as the iX2. Production is slated to begin later this year in Germany alongside the iX1. Although specific details regarding the iX2’s specifications remain undisclosed, it’s highly likely to share its powertrain with the iX1, featuring two electric motors producing 313 horsepower and 364 pound-feet of torque. With the teaser video sparking excitement and anticipation, BMW’s new X2 is poised to captivate the automotive world once it officially debuts, offering a fresh take on luxury and performance in the crossover segment.
