BMW Vision Neue Klasse Concept Officially Revealed

BMW has unveiled the BMW Vision Neue Klasse concept, a futuristic representation of the brand’s upcoming electric vehicles (EVs) and their design language. This concept, showcased at the IAA Mobility 2023 show in Munich, builds upon the foundation laid by the BMW i Vision Dee concept, adding new elements that are likely to make their way to production models. The Neue Klasse concept retains the distinctive shape of its predecessor but introduces several design refinements. A noticeable feature is the slanted “shark nose” hood, which adds a dynamic touch to the front end. Two horizontal kidney grilles with integrated LED running lights extend across the bumper, demonstrating BMW’s commitment to electrified designs and utilizing 3D printing for various lighting elements.

The rear of the Neue Klasse concept features elongated taillights, mirroring the design cues from the front. Notably, BMW has embraced a minimalist approach, replacing traditional metal badges with its new logo, and incorporating a sleek, almost monolithic design. This streamlined design not only enhances aesthetics but also contributes to a remarkable 30% increase in range and 25% greater efficiency compared to current BMW EVs. Underneath the Neue Klasse’s skin lies BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, offering a 20% higher energy density, 25% improved efficiency, and 30% faster charging. Although exact range figures haven’t been provided, BMW has hinted at the possibility of 621 miles (1,000 kilometers) of range.

Inside the cabin, the Neue Klasse features BMW’s latest iDrive infotainment interface, which is projected onto a distinctive parallelogram-like touchscreen. The cabin maintains a minimalist retro aesthetic, featuring corduroy seats in mustard yellow and a squircular steering wheel. BMW introduces “Panoramic Vision,” a feature that enhances the head-up display by projecting graphics across the entire width of the windshield. Both the driver and front passenger can interact with this function using gesture controls. The production version of the BMW Neue Klasse is scheduled to begin in 2025 at BMW’s eco-friendly plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The EV is expected to hit the road in 2026, and further details regarding pricing, range, and charging capabilities will be revealed closer to the production model’s launch.
